The Design Build brief was to construct an extension to the existing buildings, providing seating for 100 restaurant and 120 café bar guests. The extension was designed at 45 degrees to the existing building, with a glazed pyramid, giving diners panoramic views of the spectacular gardens. A moveable acoustic partition separates the restaurant from the café bar, whilst retaining the ability to combine both areas for larger functions. Outside, a raised terrace provides extra seating. A steel portal frame was used for speed of construction, complementing the modern design with extensive use of natural material, timber, natural delph walling to match existing masonry and reclaimed Burlington slate roof tiles. Internally, the works incorporated office space in the roof void and provided a building ready to move into, including bespoke feature lighting. From concept to completion, the £500,000 project was carried out within six months.
