A £2m car park regeneration project, which is seen as a catalyst to the rejuvenation of an area of York, has started.

Wetherby-based owners The Oakgate Group has appointed Moor Lane Construction of Bishopthorpe to regenerate and refurbish the Tanner Row car park site. Work is scheduled to finish by the end of the year.

The car park, which has already had a major interior overhaul, will be reclad in terracotta, while five state-of-the-art retail and leisure units are being created on the ground floor on George Hudson Street.

Discussions are now well advanced for the letting of one 4,000 sq ft unit.
